So unbelievably bummed.


Yes...there were many entries for not enough spots. It is, however, little consolation to me that this piece did not make it into a juried exhibition (one that is , or was, very important to me). It is felted in a single piece on a complex template (what looks like three is really one...titled URBANITY) I am totally bummed. I'm not seeking pats on back or expressions of incredulous shock and awe...just feeling sorry for myself...and then mad at myself for feeling sorry for myself. I tried Sherbert (rainbow) and it was not quite enough. Washed dishes to distract myself...hmmm, now I am p.o.ed. Like any rejection, I will get over it, but despite reaching really high, I have been on quite an amazing winning streak. I suppose I was due to get some wind knocked out of my sails. Really bummed, nonetheless. It will have to be short lived because tomorrow the focus must switch to the installation for Detroit. The work will go on.

    All I can say is I guess there were no felters on the jury to appreciate the complexity of making the template and the working of the fibre after...otherwise you would have been selected...I know all of us felters select you...lol it is a very impressive piece unlike any I have seen...great work

    I understand your disappointment. It's unfortunate that the jury wasn't able to appreciate the complexity of your piece. If you are satisfied with it that's what really counts.

    My mind boggles at the technical know-how to execute this. Not only is it technically amazing, but artistically pleasing too! I'm amazed that it wasn't accepted! Unfortunately, humans are just that -- who knows what the thought process is sometimes.

    I'm sooooo excited for my workshop later this month. Work is really busy (I'm at about 140% workload) but I can't wait to take a day off and explore my other side.

    I am so sorry. I think it is the hardest part for me, the rejection letters. I for one, think it is an incredible piece, both in design and execution.

    so sorry to hear this! rejection is a bummer but very necessary I'm finding to staying focused growing as an artist all the time.

    Where and when is your exhibit in Detroit? I'm across state but would LOVE to finally have to opportunity to see your work in person!

    It will be at Wayne State University at the gallery there- titled "Oh, Canada" I believe it opens sometime in November.
