Noooooo, the injustice! last night I got in the way of a growly dog (my own). The result:5 stitches (4 standard and a lovely mattress stitch), a week of antibiotics and a tetanus shot. The worst part is that I must keep it dry for 2 days and stitches will be in for a full week. I keep telling myself that the timing could be worse. I have no looming deadlines, no work that must get done.
I am however sad that with some free time, it will not be spent felting over the next week. I am experiencing the realization that my craft is so important to me. Yes, I did know this, but the true depth of my commitment/passion/obsession is evident to me today. I am grateful it is just a few stitches and thankful for the time to switch gears and think for a bit about what to create next. Watch out! I'll keep you posted, as always.

Get well soon! You should put somewhere the "evel eye", in Turkish "nazar boncugu".
ReplyDeleteYes...need one!
ReplyDeleteOw ow. Poor you. I guess you'll have to spend your time planning new ideas in your head. Hope it heals quickly.
ReplyDeleteI know this is hard! However......it is also a good time to focus on other things. After our online class I had what was *supposed* to be a very easy bilateral hip surgery. I bounced right back, but then did the unthinkable -- I dislocated one hip. I'm the first in my surgeon's history of over 1000 patients. I've learned the very hard way to slow down and try to appreciate the small things. I can't say it was easy, but I've learned a few things along the journey. :) Get well quickly!
ReplyDeleteOh dear.. hope it heals soon! At least you will have Christmas to distract you from what else you could be doing.
ReplyDeletebest wishes

I can see your hand looks fine and you will survive, how is your dog surviving your injury??
ReplyDeleteHave a enjoyable Holiday Season

Yes, my hand will be fine. Only a few stitches and it is already feeling good. Doggie is good. Remorseful, I think. I take a lions share of the blame for reaching for his growly nose while he was already unhappy. We then had a family discussion about respecting what he is telling us, in his canine way. I take it as a metaphor...always putting my hand in where it does not belong.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're feeling better and felting soon! Happy Holidays!
